The Adjustment Period
If this is your first ring, expect a brief adjustment period. Any ring feels unusual at first — you will notice its weight, feel it against adjacent fingers, and be more conscious of it than you will be in a few weeks. Most people stop noticing their ring as a foreign object within 1–3 weeks of daily wear.
Getting On and Off Easily
If your ring is sized correctly, it should slip on and off with mild resistance — snug over the knuckle, secure on the finger base. If it is difficult to get off, fingers may be slightly swollen (common in morning hours or warm weather). If it is loose enough to spin freely or slide off without resistance, the size may need adjustment. Contact Jewelry by Johan if you have significant fit concerns.
Establishing Care Habits
The first few weeks are the best time to establish the care habits that will keep your ring looking great long-term. Start practicing now:
- Remove the ring before washing dishes, bathing, or swimming
- Dry the ring immediately if it gets wet
- Remove before heavy manual work
- Store in the provided box or pouch when not wearing
These habits are easier to form early than to retrofit after months of casual wear have started to show on the ring.
What to Watch For
In the first weeks, pay attention to any areas where the antler meets the metal. These transition edges are the most vulnerable spots. If you notice any lifting, separation, or moisture penetration at the edges, contact Jewelry by Johan promptly — early attention prevents larger issues.
Ring Armor Is Your Best Protection
The Ring Armor coating applied by our bench jewelers is the most important protection your ring has. Treat it well — avoid the exposures listed in our care guide — and it will serve you for many years.
