Why Sizing Matters More for Antler Rings
All rings benefit from accurate sizing, but antler inlay rings make it critical: once crafted, the ring cannot be resized. The antler inlay is permanently set into the metal band — resizing the band would destroy it. This is not a policy; it is a physical limitation of how inlay rings are constructed. Getting your size right before you order is essential.
Method 1 — Order a Custom Ring Sizer ($10)
The most reliable method. Jewelry by Johan offers a custom-made ring sizer for $10 — a physical sizer made to match the profiles of our rings, shipped to you before you place your ring order. We strongly recommend this for anyone who has any uncertainty about their size.
Method 2 — String or Paper Strip
Cut a thin strip of paper (about 6mm wide and 10cm long). Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on. Mark where the paper overlaps, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters. This is your finger's inner circumference — match it to the size chart on our sizing guide page.
Method 3 — Measure an Existing Ring
If you own a ring that fits the correct finger, measure its inner diameter in millimeters using a ruler. Match to the diameter column in our size chart.
Tips for Accurate Sizing
- Measure in the afternoon — fingers are at their largest mid-day
- Avoid measuring in cold weather — fingers contract in the cold
- If between sizes, go up half a size for wider bands (8mm+)
- If you have large knuckles relative to your finger base, size for the knuckle
- Measure the specific finger you'll wear the ring on — finger sizes vary
